Themes for the Second Geek Wine Thing

[update June 15th 2007] I've put a wiki up for the event, the only stuff on it at time of posting is a page where you can suggest ideas for future tasting themes (there's a list of past themes on that page too).

The next Geek Wine Thing will take place on the 26th of June at No. 13 Brunswick Square.

Again the event will be hosted by Henry and Will from The Butlers Wine Cellar.

Theme
If you've got ideas for a theme, let me know in the comments.

Ideas so far:
  • New world Vs old world (Jane's suggestion)

Great, I for one am looking forward to it :-)
I'd suggest something about Hungarian wine but from what I know my half-homecountry's produce is rather rubbish!

You could focus on a specific grape (Merlot from Chile/France/California), or you could look at a specific region of a country (Bordeaux wines, Rhone wines), or you could look at unfamiliar/underrated wine-producing countries (Germany, Austria - England!). How to pair wine with food would be good, but probably more difficult. Dessert wines might be interesting to explore, too.

+1 for geek cider, or for a night of wine made from berries and fruit other than grapes.
